The student accommodation, conceptualized as autonomous pods situated amidst wooded surroundings, offers a distinctive experience to participants within the Design+Make program and beyond. Deliberately crafted as ‘unconventional’ edifices, these constructions aim to evoke a sense of wonder in observers. The accommodation is envisaged to serve two distinct purposes
1. Restful abode: Intended for housing students/visitors actively participating in Design+Make activities at Hooke Park, these struc
tures primarily facilitate rest and sleep, with occupants spending their daytime hours within the forested campus.
2. Woodland retreat: Alternatively, the pods are designated as recreational and scholarly retreats for students of the Architectural As
sociation (AA) and external visitors, offering alternative living and working spaces. This utilization is anticipated to peak during term
breaks and periods dedicated to independent writing, thereby maximizing the potential experiences available within the Hooke Park
campus
