This project is a winning entry for the Ideas competition, organized and promoted by Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL). It is directed at addressing the needs of Sector 22 of Chandigarh under four themes-
Mobility, Neighbourhood, Community and Economy.
In our study and analysis of Sector 22, we recognized the resilience of the original plan by Le Corbusier but also unraveled numerous possibilities that would make it inclusive, vibrant, pedestrian-friendly and ecologically sound. The proposal aims to re-establish connections between people, residents, community and nature through various interventions. After looking at various issues and aspirations of people, we have integrated solutions that cut across the four categories of the competition.
Economy: Heritage Trail
The Administration loses lots of revenue annually because of un-allocated houses. To generate revenue and turn liabilities into assets, we propose a heritage trail along the heritage buildings and an adaptive reuse of these housing typologies.
Neighborhood : Landscape & Activity Interventions
Active Parks: These parks have been classified to engage users in physical activities.
Passive Parks: These Parks provide passive benefits
to the user. Reducing noise/air pollution, maintaining
ecology.
